Why Reinventing Yourself Is Essential if You’re Woman Over 40
Do you deeply yearn for a change in your life right now after turning 40? Perhaps you might have been wearing that “Stay-at-home mom” hat for too long that you didn’t even realize you have hit your mid-age?
Or maybe you have been living someone else’s life for years and now you want to free yourself?
And also not surprisingly, you might be having those obvious signs that pretty much sure you really freaking need a reinvention in your life:-
- Feeling unfulfilled or unhappy with where you are in life
- Deeply craving for a sense of Aliveness
- Finding yourself stuck in a rut and not living up to your full potential
- You feel that you have no deep purpose in life
- You are feeling disconnected from your passions and values for years
- You have buried your dream to raise your family
- You have a deep longing for something different in your life right now
- You have neglected your self-care for years
- You are too comfortable in life that now you are ready for a new challenge
If you find yourself relatable with one of the above reasons OR all of them, well don’t worry, I see you, my friend. I’m on a mission on sharing everything that I learned and still learning (NOT DONE YET) on my personal reinvention journey so that you too can have a great life in your mid-age.
Right, let’s go all in. First and foremost, Let’s look at what self-reinvention is.
What is Self-Reinvention
Self-reinvention is all about reinventing yourself. Reinventing yourself means making significant changes to your life. For me, it’s about becoming who you really are that you’ve been hiding behind a mask just because you want to raise your family. Isn’t that what we moms do for years?
We focus on everyone else and lose our inner self in the process although motherhood is a wonderful journey for all of us. Right? Now, I’m not saying we should focus fully on ourselves and ignore our families. BIG NO! They are our most precious bonds on earth.
However, YOU are also the most precious being as they are. We have been putting ourselves on the back burner for years, now it’s time to bring that person back to life again. Bring that superwoman back yo! ( You are without a doubt.)
When you reinvent yourself, you eventually become the authentic version of yourself.
However, let me remind you that reinvention is not a one-time event. Reinventing yourself is quiet a challenging process because sometimes you may find yourself having those:-
- Lack of Motivation
- Fear of Failure
- Self-Doubt
- Limited resources
- Social pressure
- Lack of support
Making a Change in your life is not easy but it’s doable. All you need is self-awareness and strong determination to create the change you want so badly. Yes! It also requires breaking out of your comfort zone and taking control of your life. Growth happens outside of the comfort zone. No other shortcuts.
Seriously.
While it may be a challenging and intimidating process, it’s so worthwhile because it’ll bring tremendous growth and fulfillment in your life that you could never imagine.
Remember that reinvention is a normal part of life and it’s never too late to start. No matter what age you are. I’m still a mom to two teenagers and a six-year-old, yet I feel the urge to reinvent my life last year when I hit rock bottom.
Everyone on the planet goes through different changes and challenges. It’s our human nature to want to improve ourselves and our life. After all, you are so worth it and deserve to create an incredible life for yourself.
Making the rest of your life the best of your life is your birthright. Why waiting?
You can become a better, happier, and more fulfilled person when you embark on a journey of reinvention. It may involve dramatically changing your habits, lifestyle, attitude, relationships, health, or any other aspect of your life.
While reinventing yourself may involve changing your external factors, it is also about internal changes which is a real and long-lasting transformational experience.
It can end up being one of your life’s most gratifying and rewarding experiences that you could ever imagine.
There are so many life-changing benefits that come when you reinvent your life.
1. Greater fulfillment in life
While living as SAHM for years is a rewarding experience for many of us as we have been essentially there for our children in their most precious years, there is some part of us that we may had lose during motherhood. Reinventing yourself can result in a greater sense of purpose and satisfaction in life. When you constantly strive to improve yourself, you’ll simply live a more fulfilled life.
2. Increased happiness and well-being
No matter what area of your life you want to reinvent, the result would always be positive and turns you into a happier and healthier version of yourself.
3. Increase your self-esteem
Do you relate with me when I say that being a stay-at-home mom for over a decade has really robbed me of my self-esteem? Reinventing myself gives me a sense of accomplishment and self-worth. My biggest struggle so far, ladies! When you take steps to improve yourself, it boosts your confidence and makes you feel more empowered. Trust me.
4. Understand yourself better
When you reinvent yourself, you gain a deeper understanding of yourself. This leads to improved decision-making and better mental and emotional health.
5. Improve your relationships
Reinventing yourself helps you develop better relationships. You may understand which relationships fill you up and which relationships bring you down. And take the necessary action to change, stay away, or improve that particular relationship in your life.
6. Become adaptable to change
Reinventing yourself makes you more adaptable to change. When you are flexible and open to new ideas, you’ll stay ahead of the curve and be successful in any environment.
7. Serves as a great tool in goal achievement
If you set any goals for yourself, you may find reinventing yourself serves as a helpful tool in achieving them by creating a plan or process.
These are just some benefits of reinventing yourself. It’s time to assess your life and make changes that are aligned with your desires, needs, and values.
Here’s what I personally believe, I don’t want to look back on my life and be filled with regret for not having lived it to the fullest while I still can.
